WoW Paladin Guide - Playing with the Paladin

Image of WoW Paladin GuideA Paladin is World of Warcraft’s version of a knight in shining armor – only with a rockstar attitude. It’s chiefly because a paladin is a hybrid class - a priest and warrior combo. This is where the Paladin’s true strengths (and unfortunately weaknesses) lie so this is where we’ll focus in this WoW Paladin guide.

While looking at paladins, the first thing to do is ask yourself if this is the right class for you. If you like warriors but want the option to do something other than just combat, or like the priest but don't want to be just a supporting character, then the paladin may be for you.

You will be able to change the paladin’s primary role as you play and switch between tanking, causing damage and healing.

The main thing to worry about while reading this WoW Paladin guide is what kind of roles you want to play while touring the many realms of the World of Warcraft.

If you’re the hero-type who wants to be in the limelight, don’t pick the paladin because it’s a class made for role players. Players who prefer to be part of a team and would rather work behind the scenes in order to be successful, then there’s no better class for you other than the paladin.

Being a hybrid class, it has numerous options when it comes to defense and offense. This however also means that it’s a jack of all trades master of none-type class. Translation: Paladins are good at many things - they can heal, tank or dps. However, while they can do all these they can’t do it all well, all the time, so they’re better off specializing on specific tasks.

It’s a good class for tanking because Paladins have the ability to wear plate armor at level  40, making them perhaps the most hardiest class in the game. They can have overwhelming armor and health ratings, along with their ability to heal themselves and bubble!  While not too many WoW Paladin guide for beginners would waste ink on this info, we’d like to mention that Paladin also own one of the coolest no-bearing aspects in WoW - the ability to taunt enemies of lesser armored classes.

Another thing they have going for them is that paladins have excellent group and raid buffs due to their auras and blessings abilities. Add their special ability to resurrect raid-mates and other players and it’s easy to see why the paladins are a keeper in raids.

As any WoW Paladin guide will tell you, players should make full use of the class’ hybrid traits. For instance, the class can be a truly effective Tanker and Healer combo. The mark of a good paladin is the ability to tweak his numerous capabilities and focus on the specific areas that would prove to be invaluable in a particular situation.

The Paladin class is generally a mixed class who’s best suited for support-based tasks. While they can heal, tank and dps at the same time, a player must focus on one or two of those to become really effective. A well set up skills combo’d with the right gear makes them an exceptionally versatile and survivable class. Due to this versatility, it is not uncommon to see an average Paladin fighting and defeating a MOB several levels higher.
