WoW Warlock Guide - Working with the Warlock

Image of WoW Warlock GuideIf Mages are the center of everything magic-related in the World if Warcraft, consider Warlocks as their cousins on the dark side of the force. This is chiefly because the Warlock class focuses in demonic spells and rituals. This makes the warlock class a perfect fit for those who are into spells and curses, and prefer the darker way of casting them. In case you’re interested, let this WoW Warlock guide walk you into the deeper realms of the class.

What exactly do Warlocks have inside their bag of tricks? Well for starters they can summon demonic figures from the void, inflict various curses and diseases upon their enemies, and use numerous shadow arts to directly attack. Warlocks also have high survivability (something the Mages don’t have) as well as the best hit points a caster class can have.

The warlocks' summoned demons also provide assistance when it comes to soloing, with their effects not far from what pets do to their hunter masters.

Despite all these plusses though, one single trait that makes the Warlock class such a formidable opponent and a very reliable ally is its Single-Target Fear spell. What this trait basically gives the Warlock class is the ability to survive against formidable opponents by simply "fear-kiting" player and monster alike! Pretty much like what other WoW Warlock guide will tell you, there’s no other class in WoW that has this devastatingly huge advantage. This is definitely something you should consider when you’re still deciding on what class to pick.

Another thing it has going for it is, unlike Mages, Warlocks deal Damage over Time. It may have weaker attacks but the casts it pours have long-term and therefore more devastating effects, especially during grinds. Warlocks also have more utility for a group, be it raid or 5-man group, with additions such as Healthstones, Soulstones and their pet raid-wide buffs.

Speaking of pets, Warlocks can also utilize pets to tank, damage, and lockdown their enemies. They have multiple types of pets with each one have a unique role. Their pets can also learn spells and do all sorts of interesting things. As an extra bonus, Warlocks also receive a free mount at level  40 and unlike other classes can quest for an epic mount when they reach level sixty.

Like Mages though, Warlocks are very dependent on mana making them vulnerable to enemies with high tanking and survivability rates. To counter this, Warlocks are given the ability to turn their health into mana and then drain the health back from the enemy. This makes them virtually unstoppable in PvP.

Another weakness though is that Warlocks, being a cloth caster, are very weak physically and lack any form of solid melee damage output. Although they can drain the health of their enemies and use various abilities to increase the class’ survivability, they aren’t expected to put up much of a fight when being attacked directly.

Finally, because most of the Warlocks damage comes over time (DOT), you won't be seeing too many big rate drops in one hit until you’re in a much higher level. Some WoW Warlock guide may fool you into assuming otherwise, but there’s just no way around this save to leveling up.

As a final note, the warlock class is easily the most powerful class in WoW, with various game-changing abilities to its favor. It’s very hard to maintain though, and will require a beginner to spend much of his time toiling just to get it to a level where it can truly be effective. Once it gets to that level though, there’s hardly anything other classes can do against this Warlock juggernaut.
